Overview
Parkwise is a real-time parking guidance app designed to help urban drivers avoid tickets and towing by translating complex parking regulations into clear, actionable insights. Developed as a class project, the team researched, designed, and built a high-fidelity prototype that reimagines parking from a guessing game into an informed decision-making experience. Urban drivers often rely on unclear signage and fragmented rules to determine where they can legally park.

The Challenge
In dense cities like Los Angeles, this leads to frequent parking violations, unexpected towing, and daily friction or uncertainty. The challenge was to explore how design could simplify regulatory complexity and provide drivers with confidence in real-time parking decisions.
The Approach
We conducted research into parking violations and user behavior to understand where confusion occurs. Using these insights, we designed a mobile-first prototype that visualizes legal parking zones, provides real-time alerts and reminders, and simplifies complex street regulations into clear actions. Rather than navigating static maps or signage, users receive proactive guidance that helps them park with confidence.
